Throughout all of human history there has been a search for a utopian kind of society, where there is equality for all, a sense of justice, a sense of safety, and a sense of peace. Throughout the centuries there have been those who have sought to find a way to outline that perfect type of government that would allow a utopia to flourish.  The results have been governmental systems such as communism and democracy.  The two are radical opposites of each other, but both are looking to create a world in which people can live in the best possible way.

Neither system is perfect.  We all know what happened in communist countries.  Cruel dictators abusing their power, taking the wealth, while people lived in fear unable to express themselves as individuals.  America, with it’s powerful democracy, has seen a few bumps in the road as well.  There are still those who are underprivileged. There are still kids who go to bed hungry at night.  There are still those who can’t afford to have their medical needs addressed.

This might be why the Democratic party seems to be pushing their way towards socialism, in the hopes of “righting these wrongs.”  But the Democratic party hasn’t been shy about its connections to the socialist movement.  The Democratic party has a congressional “Progressive” caucus that has a membership by proxy in the Socialist International, according to Rene Guerra of Brookenews.com.  Former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton once served as an assistant to the lawyer Robert Treuhaft, who identified himself as a card-carrying member of the of the Communist Party.  No one likes to see injustice carried out. But one only has to look to the former Soviet Union, the existence of East Germany, and China to see what happens when you abandon democracy in search of some kind of “equal” utopia.  Socialism is a slippery slope
